My world-acclaimed pastry chef friend sent me
this article a few years ago. She was reading it for a nutrition class. Author Michael Pollan follows the life of a steer he has purchased, from pasture to slaughter to his plate, while telling us all about the horrors of the factory farming industry. What I like is that Pollan doesn't resort to emotional appeals to sway his audience. He's a meat-eater with no ethical dilemmas about the humanity of beef consumption. What's shocking is the meat industry's potential
human cost.
(Psst,
everything Michael Pollan writes is amazing. And I'd love to see
this.)
