Fox News is mad because Newsweek's latest cover features a picture of Sarah Palin that has not been retouched. Whether Newsweek did it to be "catty" or not, when did it become offensive not to retouch? I admit, to see a bit of peach fuzz on a magazine covershot is surprising. But what else do I see? Perfect skin, white teeth, good bone structure. Her makeup looks nice and her eyebrows are manicured.

If presenting a showered, made up woman as she appears in an unedited close-up is "mean", what does this suggest about our society's standards of beauty, especially given the fact that the woman in question is an ex-beauty queen?
