mother's day is this sunday, so i hope you all have finished (or at least started) your shopping! at the risk of ruining the surprise (sorry mom - if you're reading, turn away NOW), i wanted to get my mom something different this year. for father's day there's ties, and for mom, it seems like it's always candles, massages and flowers. not that she or i would object to receiving any of the above, and mothers definitely have better go-to gifts than fathers, but i wanted to get her something with a bit more longevity this year.
i got her this lovely carafe from three potato four and in addition, a portion of the proceeds benefit the action against hunger charity. yay!
i'm also getting her whisper-pink tulips. they're my favorite flower, and i always do best with gift-giving when i buy things that i personally would adore.
what are you getting your moms (grandmas, aunts, etc.) for this mother's day? and is it a made-up corporate holiday or not? i'm too lazy to check.
