I know it's a little early...

But I made this Christmas card for you all.

kismit!

Refinery29's blog, The Pipeline, just posted about one of my favorite movies, Jean-Luc Godard's Week End. I like it mostly for its social commentary, but it's also a very stylish movie. Here's their description of it:

"A satirical look at cultural revolution that begins as leisurely road trip and ends in traffic jams and cannibalism...Sensing a sea change in politics, society and racism, Godard comments on bourgeois indulgences by blending music, violence, and brightly colored ensembles in '60s pop stylings...Colored suede slouch boots, yellow scarves worn with turquoise sweaters, red thigh-hi tights or green knee-hi socks, skintight corduroy, blankets as cloaks, sweaters as caplets, men's shirts as mini-dresses, random pins, gold cuffs, and an impressive array of headwear make up the colorfully bizarre mishmash of stolen garments for the Front's revolutionary uniforms."

Lyell's Holiday 08 collection is, in true Lyell fashion, lust-worthy.

delicatessen.

Jean-Pierre Jeunet is one of my favorite directors. He's best known for "Amelie", but everything he does is wonderful. He's got this ability to personalize each character in the quirkiest of ways without it seeming like a typical cliched indie film. (You know, like "Eagle vs. Shark", "Dummy", "Year of the Dog", or any other movie where two quirky people who never expected to find love find it. I think "Punch-Drunk Love" started it.)

While I think "A Very Long Engagement" is his most moving film, his very first movie, "Delicatessen", never fails to make me smile. See evidence below:

irony.

I've been applying for lots of jobs lately, and for the more tech-savvy ones, I send a pdf version of my resume. But for the ones that don't seem as web-proficient, I've heard that it's safest to send a word document. So, in an effort to condense my resume into a single page in .doc format (not so easy on my mac, I only have the ability to export my .pages files), I cut a line out of my resume. But I only cut out HALF of the line.

The jobs I'm applying for? PROOFREADING. Good god. I am mortified. I emailed all the jobs apologizing profusely and sending along my correct version, and hopefully they'll find it indicative of how adorable I am rather than inept.

But still, I can't believe I did that. JEEBUS.

oh.
