So I finally got done with my roll of 16 pictures on my lovely plastic camera, the diana. I wasn't sure what to expect from the results, especially since my friend with the same camera (I got it for her for Christmas, then my boyfriend saw how excited I was about her gift and got me the same thing!) had a less than thrilling outcome, from what I hear (i don't know though...I think she's a perfectionist just like me and may be missing the hidden goodness by being overly-critical).
The whole "thing" about the diana+ is that is produces random, eerie and dreamy effects based on the lighting, focus, experimentation with multiple exposures, and pure chance, really. You never know what you are going to get, and all you can do is read the instructions, follow as many of the guidelines as you can remember, and hope for the best. I am a lover of all things organic in art...things that seem to fall together effortlessly in a minimal, collaged way...so I was realllly excited.
Of course, it took me 8 months of laziness, fear, and lack of anything interesting to shoot to fill up my pathetic 16 frames (where does that initial excitement always run off to?), but I finally did, and then I hiked back to Dupont Circle to get them developed, and hiked back and paid $20 for the pix the next Friday. And what I got was pretty awesome! Here are some highlights:
I have about 4 rolls of film left, so I guess I'll throw in another one and hope for some more goodies as I capture the end of summer. If you're interested, here are some links.
